Chapter 29
The Finch family hs been struck with so much news in one night. Jem has broken his arm, as a result of our attack and Heck Tate is now at our door. He has just told Atticus that Bob Ewell was found dead under a tree, stabbed to death. At this moment, I dont know how or what to feel. Mr. Tate asked me to explain the events leading up to the attack, and I did so to the best if my abilities. All I'm concerned about right now is how Jem is holding up. I also would like to know who saved our lives.
I asked to go visit Jem to see how he was doing. He did break his arm after all. When I walked into the room I saw my rescuer leaning against the wall. He was tall and skinny with sickly white hands. I immediatly knew who it was. It was Boo Radley. I feel as if I've been waiting for this moment all my life. I have come face to face with THE Boo Radley himself. I cant even explain how I'm feeling at this moment. Its the greatest thing ever.
Chapter 28
Today was the day of the Maycomb Halloween pagaent. Mrs. Merriweather assigned me to be "pork" and my costume looked great. Jem and I walked to the pageant ourself since it was fairly close. When we got there Jem handed me thirty cents and I decided to hangout with Cecil. We went around to the different booths and had lots of fun. When the pagaent started, I missed my calling and Mrs. Merriweather was not happy, but it wasnt a big deal in the end. The pageant went great and by now it was night fall. Jem and I would have to walk home alone.
As Jem and I were walking home, I realized I had forgotten my shoes. By now, all the lights were off in the school, so there was no point in going back and getting them. Jem and I suddendly started hearing footsteps behind us. We thought it was Cecil at first trying to mess with us. We quickened our pace and Jem was then pulled to the ground and I heard a sickening crunch. I ran to the sound of Jems scream but found that someone had grabbed me and tryed squeezing the breath out of me. I felt my attacker jerk backwards and retreat and my ears filled with heavy breathing. I thought it was Jem who had saved me at first, but to my disbelief, I was very wrong.

Chapter 17
Today was the day of Tom Robinsons trial. Jem, Dill, and I sat in the balconey with Reverend Skykes unseen. I've never truly seen Atticus in action on a case. Mr. Heck Tate, the sheriff, was called to the stand to be testifyed. Atticus questioned him like there was no tomorrow. He was asking the most tricky questions and tried to bring out unsupported evidence in Heck Tate. He was very clever with his wording and I had a good feeling that this case would be a win for Atticus.

Next up to the stand was Bob Ewell. He was a tall skinny man who resembled a chicken. He had a bad reputation for being lazy and everyone in Maycomb knew it. He was the father of Mayella Ewell, the girl who claimed Tom Robinson raped her. Again, Atticus was working his magic on proving that Tom was innocent. I hope the case works in his favor.
Chapter 15
Tonight was rather interesting. We recieved a knock on the door and found Mr. Heck Tate standing there with a bunch of men on our front lawn. Jem and I didnt recognize most of them and they were waiting to talk to Atticus. I felt scared for him as we watched through the window. Atticus has been getting alot of heat lately from the case hes working on with Tom Robinson. Thank goodness the men were friends of Atticus, as I found out later. I sometimes feel like theres people out there who would hurt him for doing the right thing. All I can do is hope for the best.
Tonight was another crazy night. Before bed, Atticus told us he was going to town and would be back very late. Jem wanted to go and see what he was up to, so Dill and I joined him. When we arrived, we found Atticus sitting ouside Tom Robinsons jail cell. Agroup of men apeared, and they were different from the previous group. These men looked dangerous. I could smell whiskey on these men and they all wore similar clothing. When Atticus saw Jem, Dill, and I fear struck his face. He told us to go home but we refused. One of the men grabbed Jem by the collar and I went into full on attack mode. I defended my brother and began to talk to Mr. Cunningham, Walters dad. I somehow got the men to leave and was greateful that no harm was done to Atticus. I hope something like this never happens again, although I'm not too sure it wont.
Chapter 12
This summer Dill did not come. He sent me a letter telling me he had a new father, who was a lawyer like Atticus. He enclosed a picture of himself and his new father, and the man looked pleasant. Dill also said he'd love me forever and I liked the idea of having a permanant fiancee. My summer was lonely without him. I spent most of my time helping Calpurnia and we got pretty close. It wasnt all that bad!

Today, Jem and I went to church with Calpurnia. It was such a wonderful experiance! Her church, of course was all African Americans but most of them were very nice to Jem and myself. We got to meet her son Zeebo who is a garbage collector. The one thing I found strange was the absence of the hymn books. I later found out that the church did nit use them because African Americans could not read. Overall, Calpurnias church was a great experiance!
